Trompe L' oeil, or Trompe L' oeil mural painting. It comes down to being faked out. That what your seeing isn't real.

Yes, Trompe L' oeil is really painting or creating something to look real. While the whole time, its not real to begin with. Like this door in the photo we painted years back. The client asked for something simple to paint on their sliding pocket door. Well what else can an artist do to a sliding hidden door, except to paint something on it. This started with a pencil drawing on paper. Like all our mural work does, we start on paper with pencil first. Yes to get the clients approval but also its easier to work out the details on a drawing pad. Then we lay it out on the door surface and paint it in. Yes this job is done with just the use of shadows. Then we finished it with the use of different clear coating. To add dimension and the finished illusion. This was completed in a Buffalo NY water front condo. If you think this is cool, wait to you see what we wee asked to create on the other side of this door.
